dr. Lauren May

Dr. Lauren May is an Assistant Professor of English Education at Longwood University. She completed her BA and MAT at Christopher Newport University, began teaching in Virginia Public Schools in 2016, and completed her Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 2022. Before coming to Longwood, she was an Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas A&M International University.
dr. robin smith

Dr. Robin Smith became an associate professor of English education at Longwood in 2008 after finishing her PhD in instructional technology at George Mason University. She has National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification in English language arts as well as Virginia teaching licensure in English language arts 6-12, library media preK-12, and gifted education K-12. Before Longwood, Dr. Smith taught in Virginia public high schools for 30 years and in GMU’s graduate program. ​
dr. sean ruday

Dr. Sean Ruday is a professor of English education and the coordinator of the English education program at Longwood. He began teaching at Longwood in 2011 after completing his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. Before coming to Longwood, he taught English in public and private schools in New York, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
